About the Team
Our senior funeral director, J. James Richards, is able to bring both practical and spiritual advice to the funeral profession based on his wide experience over many years. He is thoroughly conversant with all aspects of the community. In addition, he has a wide knowledge of skills in relation to other matters of bereavement. For example, he can assist with probate, estates, taxation and counselling.
His Father and fellow funeral director, Allen G. Richards, remains in a supporting role as a consultant in bereavement care and services.
Both James and Allen are highly trained and committed to their profession. They take pride in bringing a personal, caring and sympathetic understanding to all aspects of bereavement.
All other members of staff are highly trained and fully conversant with all aspects of the funeral profession. Richards Funeral Services have a personal working knowledge of areas throughout the Cynon Valley from Abercynon in the south, through Mountain Ash and to all parts of Aberdare including Abercwmboi, Cwmaman, Aberaman, Cwmbach, Abernant, Foundry Town, Gadlys, Trecynon, Cwmdare and Landare, Penywaun and Hirwaun. Also, further afield, across the Heads of the Valley from Merthyr Tydfil to Glynneath.
Joining his father Mr. Allen Richards in 1997, James is a third
generation Funeral Director and heads up the business. A seasoned
Funeral Director with over 20 years of experience.
In his spare time James enjoys spending time with his wife and two
children as well as participating in a wide range of sports. James is also part of the leadership team at Oasis Community Church, Aberdare.
Joined the team in 2000, his primary roles included working as a funeral operative and overseeing care for the deceased. Stuart is an
invaluable member of team with vast experience and knowledge of his job roles.
In his spare time Stuart enjoys spending time with his family and is a member of Cwmbach Male Voice Choir.
Joined the team in 2008 working with James in assisting with the daily operations and Funeral Directing. Andrew is actively involved in
serving families helping plan funerals with a caring and dedicated touch. In his spare time Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife he also enjoys sports such as football, rugby & golf. Andrew serves as part of the leadership team at Bryn Sion Baptist Church, Trecynon.
Joined the team in 2018, his roles include working as a funeral
operative, assisting in the care of the deceased. Nathan has now
completed an embalming qualification.
In his spare time Nathan enjoys long walks with his partner and
beloved dog Max.
Joined the team in 2019, she oversees the administration for the
office and has a passion to support and care for bereaved families.
Jayne is an accomplished musician and regularly plays the organ at our Chapel of Rest.
In her spare time Jayne enjoys spending time with her Husband and
Son as well as cycling and reading.
